Dr. Brendan C. Stack, Jr., M.D., FACS, FACE was trained in Surgery for two years and then Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery for four years at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Dr. Stack completed a Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstruction accredited by the Joint Council for Approval of Advanced training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery in 1997 at the University of Washington, Seattle. While in Seattle, Dr. Stack also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle and served as an Instructor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and on the medical staff of the Seattle VA Medical Center.

Currently, Dr. Stack is Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR. Dr. Stack has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and internet articles. Dr. Stack was co-editor of Medical and Surgical Treatment of Parathyroid Diseases - An evidence-based approach, Cham Switzerland: Springer International Publishing 2016. Dr. Stack was co-editor of Neck Dissection, Berlin, Germany: Thieme, 2018. He has presented at over 350 meetings regionally, nationally, and internationally. He collaborates on grants from the NIH, NSF and other public and private organizations. Dr. Stack has appeared on, or been cited by, local and national media numerous times. He has served on review panels for the National Institutes of Health and review agencies for the nations of Singapore, Italy, and England. Dr. Stack is listed in “Best Doctors” of America (since 2006), “Guide to America’s Top Surgeons” (since 2004), “Guide to America’s Top Physicians” (since 2009), Castle and Connolly Top Doctors and Cancer Specialists (since 2014), and “Top Thyroid Doctors” (since 2004).

Ralph Tufano, MD MBA

Charles W. Cummings MD Endowed Professor and Director of the Division of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

Dr. Tufano is the Charles W. Cummings MD Endowed Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Tufano serves as the department’s Director of the Division of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society accredited fellowship in Endocrine Surgery. He serves on the Board of the American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Section of the American Head and Neck Society. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Surgical Affairs Committee for the ATA and served as its inaugural co-chair. He is also the recent past chair of the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s Endocrine Surgery Committee. He has authored over 175 peer-reviewed papers, and more than 30 textbook chapters related to thyroid and parathyroid diseases which have helped to define surgical management in this area. His research interests include novel directed therapies for the treatment of thyroid and parathyroid diseases, prognostic molecular markers for differentiated thyroid cancer, clinical outcomes research especially for transoral thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and determining the value propositions of thyroid and parathyroid surgical care episodes.

Dr. Mark Zafereo, MD is an Associate Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is Section Chief of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery and Associate Medical Director of the Endocrine Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Zafereo holds national committee appointments for the American Head and Neck Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and he is a Past President of the Houston Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has published extensively on Thyroid and other Head & Neck cancers, speaking nationally and internationally. His clinical practice focuses on patients afflicted with thyroid cancer and parathyroid neoplasms.
