Diabetic foot is often a neglected area in diabetes management.
Continuing Medical education as a workshop or health talk is the need of the hour for creating importance of diabetic foot and upgrading knowledge and skills in healthcare professionals .
Although Doctors are considered epitome of treatment in our society there is still a lacuna in knowledge gained and prescribing practices regarding diabetic foot ulcer. Doctors are the first and sometimes final point of contact in patients of low income group like India. There are very few studies which have captured the practices of diabetic foot ulcer care and its prevention. Innovative strategies need to be developed and tested not only to improve knowledge and attitudes but practices as well in healthcare professionals .
IDF pocket screening of feet should be made a part of curricula in academics. More workshops with practical demonstration and not mere lectures should be conducted.
