Michael McDermott is Professor of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and Director of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Practice at the University of Colorado Hospital. He graduated from Tulane Medical School in 1977. He spent 20 years in the US Army during which he was the Chief of Endocrinology at Fitzsimons Army Hospital (1993-1997) and served as the Endocrinology Consultant to the Surgeon General (1994-1997). He retired from the US Army in 1997 and joined the faculty at the University of Colorado. His primary research interests include novel approaches to the management of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and the treatment of Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism.
