Gregory A. Brent, MD is Professor of Medicine and Physiology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Chief, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Hypertension, Department of Medicine UCLA and Chair of Medicine, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. He received his clinical endocrinology training at Brigham and Women's Hospital and completed a research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research focus is on the molecular mechanisms of thyroid hormone action and clinical thyroid disease research in pregnancy and chronic kidney disease. He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians. He is past President of the American Thyroid Association and has been recognized with the American Thyroid Association Van Meter, Ingbar, and Braverman Awards. He was overall Program Chair of the Endocrine Society 2019 Annual Meeting and is past Chair of the National Institutes of Health, Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology Study Section.

Thomas Buchanan, MD

Professor of Medicine, Vice Dean for Research
Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California

Dr. Buchanan conducts research into the etiology, pathogenesis, genetics and prevention of gestational and type 2 diabetes with a focus on diabetes in Hispanic Americans. His team has worked out at the physiological level how diabetes develops after gestational diabetes, along with an important mechanism for diabetes prevention and pancreatic beta cell preservation. His work has garnered him the Norbert Freinkel Award and Distinguished Clinical Science Award from the American Diabetes Association, the Mayo H. Soley Award from the Western Society for Clinical Investigation, and election to membership in the prestigious research society, the Association of American Physicians. In May of 2017 Dr. Buchanan received the USC Associates Award for Creativity in Research, the highest honor the university faculty bestows on its members for distinguished intellectual achievements.

John Carmichael, MD

John Carmichael, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. He is Co-Director of the USC Pituitary Center and course director for the Annual Southern California Pituitary Symposium held at USC, now in its 5th year. His clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary disease. As a member of AACE, he served on the Pituitary Scientific Committee, and now serves on the AACE Pituitary, Gonad, Adrenal, and Neuroendocrine Disease State Network.
