ROBERT WERMERS, M.D. is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Vice Chair of the Division of Endocrinology in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wermers obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his training in internal medicine training and fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wermers clinical interests include metabolic bone disease and transplant endocrinology. His research has focused on metabolic bone disorders including primary hyperparathyroidism, hypercalcemia, Paget’s disease of bone, osteoporosis, and other metabolic bone diseases.

Azeez Farooki, MD

Associate Attending Physician
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Dr. Azeez Farooki is an academic endocrinologist (Associate Attending Physician) at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Weill Cornell Medical College (Associate Clinical Professor). He is one of the “key clinical faculty” of the shared endocrinology fellowship program and has taught numerous medical students, residents and fellows. His clinical and research focuses include: cancer treatment induced bone fragility as well as the relationship between cancer and insulin resistance, obesity, and diabetes. He attended medical school at the New Jersey Medical School (UMD-NJMS) and completed his residency at Temple University Hospital. He completed his endocrinology fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMD-RWJMS).
He has served on the PI3 kinase, Akt inhibitor, MTOR inhibitor Task Force (addressing hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia as adverse effects of these anti-cancer agents) to the Investigational Drug Steering Committee of the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
